Two Weeks!

Just two weeks to go (a little less, now) before we begin the yearly insanity known as National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. Yes, I credit NaNo for getting a novel written. Without those fevered November word wars, forums and fellow nanoers to cheer me on, and GUILT  (that was probably the top motivator) I might not have had a word pile to edit into a novel. That’s about all you can hope for from Nano —  a big, messy pile of words and that all important daily writing habit.

But I really came here to mention a brainstorm I just had. Maybe I will tweet the following crazy idea:  Want to write a novel this November? Just send me a tweet  (those can only be 144 characters, just a few words) and I will incorporate them into my NaNo word pile. I kind of see this as 1) a publicity stunt to get attention for my novel and NaNo; 2) a way for people who won’t actually spend the month writing to get some of their odd ball ideas into circulation;  and 3) a goofy, fun way to spend the month. I have not yet committed to this, but I’m pondering it.  I think it could take off, especially if NaNo folks embraced it.  hmmmmm.  I would have to have a place (I guess on the NaNo site) to post some rules.  No profanity, or racist remarks.  Probably some legal disclaimer.  What say ye?   JC? Mo? KayB? Eire boy?  DD?  Polvinsky? Especially nanoers….    yes or no??

sounds like quite the experiment. You could end up with some really interesting ideas. One hears of stories written by dueling authors; using the same characters, alternating writing only a chapter at a time, eventually killing the other writer’s characters only to have theirs killed and/or saving a character that the other writer destroyed the previous chapter. Or something like that. So if your tweet idea gains momentum, things could definitely build to something fun! – robo

  2. Well, I heard the news today, OH boy… all I can say is JC, we must dedicate this round of Nano to Ron. Your novel, or my Warrior’s Album (nano project) must be dedicated to Ron. I still cannot believe it.

  3. Since I have not blogged again (I’m nanoing, ya know), thought I should give an update. After the first week I had 8300 and finally hit 10K just before midnight (Nov 7.) Then I had about 12,500 when I left for the trip to eButte Lake. I posted to 15K before I left, since there was no WiFi down there. I hit 16K there before I headed home and posted to 17,451 on Friday morning. I just finished another 1800 words and with 800 more will make 20K today. BUT… to be on track, we should be at 25K by Monday, Nov 15. That will be tough. I’ve written 6500 words in one day before, but it’s hard. I’m pretty determined tho, to make the mid month quota. I’ll keep ya’ll posted.
